|
1. To understand the full dimensions of the global food crisis through exposure to the work, organization and analysis of the Mouviman Paysan Papaye (MPP), together with other Haitian organizations, and with Dominican, North American and other allies. 2. To take inspiration from long-standing grassroots peasant organizations and the strides they have taken to reverse the economic and ecological degradation of rural Haiti. 3. To gain perspective on the contending models of agriculture and economic structure, the so-called "Green Revolution", export-oriented, industrialized agriculture as opposed to small-scale family and community based low-input farming, and how to achieve food sovereignty and rebuild local food economies. 4. To strengthen and expand networking connections with and among rural peoples’ organizations in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and with religious agencies and organizations in North America. 5. To inform Agricultural Missions and its partners, members and allies about the most strategic actions to be taken to combat impoverishment and hunger in the world, and to raise consciousness and commitment among our board, partners and members to continue in and expand this struggle.
